Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is better, more pressure (PSI) or Gallons per Minute (GPM)?

A: While PSI and GPM are both important to the overall operation of the unit, the pressure is what lifts the dirt up from the surface and the volume is what carries the dirt away.

Every machine can be rated in Effective Cleaning Units, (PSI x GPM = Effective Cleaning Units ECUs) In general the more effective cleaning units you have the better the machine will clean.

Q: What is the difference between the 12VDC and the 115VAC Burner systems?
A: Both systems work in the same way, it is just the voltage that the burner operates on is different. The 12VDC system runs off the battery and the engine’s charging system recharges the battery. The 115VAC system has to get its power either from a wall outlet like required on the HOT series portable units or by a optional belt driven generator like offered on the skid units. The generator will reduce the machine’s performance by 12%.

Q: I will be feeding my new unit from a water tank, what is better Direct Drive or Belt Drive?
A: Direct Drive units normally run at 3400 RPM, that means the stroke of the plunger is fast and short. While a Belt Drive unit normally runs between 1450 - 1750 RPM, so that would mean a slower and longer plunger stroke which creates a better suction. So they both will work but the Direct Drive units pump packing will wear out faster and the Belt Drive units pump packing will last longer because of the slower RPM.

Tip: When drawing off a tank, always use a feed hose that is 2-3 times the size of the inlet fitting of the pump for better flow.

Q: Which is better Hot Water or Cold Water?
A: This age old question is best answered in the kitchen sink. When washing your hands after working on greasy project, is it better to wash with Cold water and soap or Hot water and soap? While the Cold water and soap will work the grease congeals and is hard to remove from the cleaning surface. Hot water will help brake up and remove the grease from the cleaning surface.

Q: What if I have a problem?
A: Working with our Free Tech Support personnel via Email or Toll Free Phone Number, we can help you diagnose what may be wrong with your unit and get the parts shipped out to you. Since we work with only leading manufactures using components that are domestically available in most cases you can even get them locally.
